August 31, 2023 — The Phase II PV backsheet production line at Hondol Material’s Suzhou manufacturing base is now fully operational!
Following comprehensive upgrades to the two existing Phase I production lines, the expansion adds two modern coating lines and four grid backsheet production lines, increasing total annual capacity to 100 million m².
The renewed Backsheet Business Unit of Hondol Material will continue providing high-performance and high-quality products and services to global module manufacturers.
Founded in September 2021, Hondol Material has consistently pursued progress and breakthroughs. By March 2022, its Phase I production base was completed, and by June of the same year, it had become a qualified supplier for leading domestic PV module manufacturers. In April 2023, the company initiated the construction of its Phase II production base and successfully completed its Pre-A round of financing in May.
In the fruitful autumn of September, alongside the operational launch of the new backsheet production line significantly boosting capacity, Hondol’s Suzhou production base will also successively commission new film and fluoropolymer film production lines. These additions will further enhance the company’s ability to meet downstream customers’ diverse and high-standard product requirements.
Moreover, the construction of Hondol’s Hefei production base in Anhui Province was officially launched with a signing ceremony at the end of June. The first phase, spanning approximately 50,000 square meters dedicated to PV encapsulation film production, is scheduled to be completed and operational by 2024. This will establish a new dual-core synergy between Hefei and Suzhou, strengthening Hondol’s strategic footprint.
Dr. Wang Tongxin, Chairman of Hondol Material, stated: “The development of PV modules has undergone three revolutions—the first was the size revolution, the second the cell revolution, and the third is now the revolution in encapsulation methods.”
